Seniors...a time to document
Most parents ask me when they are supposed to do their child's senior portraits. And the answer is, "whenever you are ready". The idea behind the senior portraits is to document who your child is, and what they have become to this point in their lives. It's also a hugely transitional time as they are applying to colleges and getting acceptances. The hard part is making that decision.
For the senior session, I suggest a few looks and a highlight. For the looks, it's one casual/everyday look; one more formal, and third is a variation of whatever they want (many opt for their school of choice college shirt.) For the highlight, this is where we focus in on any specialty they may have, whether it be sports, music or even just a fun hobby.
This session, in my opinion, is a celebration of the first 18 years of their life. It's the transition from child to adult. It's tough for the parents, but exciting for the kids. I would say about 95% (probably closer to 100) say they are ready to move on.
Shooting seniors is probably one of my favorite things to do. I love getting to talk with them about their high school experiences; their favorite memories and what they look forward to most in their future. I do my best to bring out their personality and showcase who they really are.
My favorite thing to hear (especially from the guys) is, "wow that went faster than I thought. I have so much fun with these kids that time goes pretty quickly.
So how do we get started?
First, let me know your child's availability. I suggest weekdays, as most locations are less busy. Sessions shoot about 2 hrs before dusk. Sessions last anywhere from 60 to 120 minutes depending on the session you choose. When you call for a consultation, we will discuss outfit options and locations. Once we choose a date; you will be sent a contract and secure your time with a retainer.
